COMANCHE, TEXAS

Named for the Comanche Indian Tribe, this community was established as a trade center for surrounding ranches in 1858. Rich in pioneer and Texas history, there are more than 65 historic landmarks in the county.

Two Comanche County icons—the "Fleming Oak" and "Old Cora"— sit on the southwest corner of the town square.

Comanche boasts a beautiful 42-acre City Park and is the seat of Comanche County and is a center of agricultural production, including grapes, peanuts, pecans, dairies, fruit, cattle, livestock feeds and organics

PROCTOR LAKE and DAM

It is located on the Sabanna and Leon rivers in Comanche County. The Lake has 38 miles of shoreline and 4,610 acres of surface area. The deepest depth is 34 feet with moderate water level fluctuations.

The lake has four federal parks of 250 ares each for camping, fishing, boating and picnics and an 18 hole golf course.
